After sailing up the coast and over the Wide Bay Bar we drop anchor at Garry's Anchorage, Fraser Island under a full moon on a clear winter's night.

Overview

The Yachting Australia Inshore Skipper Certificate Course is usually conducted over a five day voyage to The Great Sandy Straits and return on board our beautiful sail training vessel 'Sofala'.

Learning Outcome

Persons assessed as competent at the end of the training program will have the ability to be the Master of a sailing vessel in sheltered waters.

Accreditation

Upon successful completion a Yachting Australia Inshore Skipper Certificate will be issued.

Cost

The cost is $1,320 including GST, YA Certificate on successful completion and FunSail Lesson plan and course notes. Additional costs apply for provisions when living on board Sofala.

Enrolment Conditions

Applicants must have already completed FunSail's Yachting Australia Competent Crew Certificate Course and FunSail's Yachting Australia Coastal Navigation Certificate course.

If you have not previously completed these courses then you may apply to FunSail for recognition of your prior learning in these areas.

Smoking is not permitted on board Sofala at any time. You must be physically able to move safely around the vessel at sea.

If you have a disability of any kind it is important that you make us aware of it at the time of applying for the course so that we can provide for you in a way that ensures your safety and comfort as well as that of all others on board.
